19 years ago, we stopped being Republican, Democratic or Independent. 19 years ago we weren't black, white, latino or otherwise. 19 years ago we honored and cherished our police officers, firemen and other first responders. 19 years ago we knew that our service men and women would respond and we loved each and every one of them for it. 19 years ago, regardless of our beliefs before that day, we supported our President and wanted him to succeed. 19 years ago, we all focused on the fact that there were way more things that we had in common, than things that separated us. 19 years ago, we stopped focusing on our differences and focused solely on what we had in common. 19 years ago, what was truly important in life became crystal clear. 19 years ago, we were all proud members of the UNITED States of America. 19 years ago, we were all Americans - period. Although I wish that terrible tragedy never happened, I long for the feeling of love and unity that followed it.
